Discover the power of marula oil

What is marula oil?

Marula oil, referred to as a “miracle” oil by some, is obtained from the kernels of the fruits of the marula tree (Latin name: Sclerocarya birrea). This tree is native to the southern and western regions of Africa. The fruits of the marula tree resemble a plum. They are round or oval in shape and contains a nut.

Dietary use

The pulp of the fruit, which is rich in vitamin C, is used by the food industry for juices, jams and alcoholic beverages. If the fruit is left to ferment, a strong alcoholic drink, a kind of home-brewed beer, can be prepared. The seeds are also a food rich in protein and oil. They are edible either raw or roasted.
